What Is SkinPen© Precision?

What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a skin rejuvenation procedure that helps to improve your skin’s condition and appearance by stimulating its natural ability to produce collagen and repair itself. The SkinPen microneedling device makes several thousands of precise pinpoint punctures which creates micro-injuries to the skin. In response to the perceived “micro-injury,” a cascade of growth factors are released, which in turn triggers new collagen and elastin production to heal the wound naturally. By persistently triggering this healing process with a series of SkinPen microneedling treatments, the body continues to repair the skin gradually. This results in a smoother, firmer, and younger looking radiant skin from the inside out.

Who Should Not Use The SkinPen?

The use of the SkinPen Precision System should not be used on patients who:

Have active skin cancer in the treatment area(s)
Have open wounds, sores, or irritated skin in the treatment area(s)
Have an allergy to stainless steel or anesthetics
Have a hemorrhagic (bleeding) disorder or hemostatic (bleeding) dysfunction
Are pregnant or nursing
Are currently taking drugs with the ingredient isotretinoin (such as Accutane)

How Many Treatments Are Recommended?

Results may appear after just one treatment, but will continue to improve three to six months following your last treatment. Three to four treatments are usually required for best results, spaced approximately four weeks apart. For more severe scarring up to six treatments may be needed. The number of treatments will be determined based upon your individual goals and the overall health of your skin. As part of your anti-aging routine you may opt for one to two treatments a year to help maintain the rejuvenating effects.

What Can I Expect During The Treatment?

A topical numbing agent will be applied to the treatment area to assure maximum comfort.
A sterile, single-use surgical grade microneedle cartridge is used for safe and effective treatment.
The treatment will likely take about 30 - 45 minutes, depending on the areas treated.
Most patients report feeling only the slight vibration of the SkinPen during the procedure.
The skin will appear slightly pink to red immediately post-procedure, similar to a mild to moderate sunburn.
We will provide Skinfuse® LIFT HG, a clean, non-cytotoxic hydrogel used to hydrate the skin and balance pH post-treatment.
